The Nepali Hindus and Buddhists worship statues, images, paintings and symbols as living goddess. Around the Katmandu have been three living goddesses but Kumari Devi is a more glorious real living goddess.Kumari Devi or Royal Kumari of Kathmandu is a young girl who lives in the building of Kumari Ghar in Katmandu’s Durbar Square a place in the center of the city. The current Royal Kumari, Matina Shakya, aged four, was installed in October 2008 by the Maoist government that replaced the monarchy.
On the third day of the festival of Indra Jatra, the living goddess Kumari is taken out in a procession in a chariot around the Durbar Square.
